The University of Siena (UNISI) is one of European oldest Universities (founded in 1240) and maintains a leading role on the national and international scene both at teaching and research levels. It counts over 700 professors, an administrative staff equal to about 850 workers, and 17.000 students, enrolled in a broad range of degree courses. The programs activated for the academic year 2025-2026 are 79, including Bachelor courses (3 years), Master courses (2 years) and Long Cycle degree Courses (5 to 6 years). Moreover, 18 three-year Doctoral programs are offered, together with a number of shorter vocational postgraduate programs. According to the most important Italian University ranking (CENSIS – La Repubblica), during the last ten years, UNISI has always ranked among the best 5 medium-sized Italian Universities, with remarkable grades for study grants and services for students. UNISI has been involved in more than 150 research projects financed within the 7th Framework Program, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and others with both roles of coordinator and partner.

The UNISI team in HEALTH-LOG-AI

The team involved in the project is from Management Engineering and is part of the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics. The core expertise integrates the application of digital technologies (especially artificial intelligence) and management methods in organizational and supply chain processes. These topics are taught in academic courses and several vocational programs involving managers and public administration employees, and are further developed in technology transfer and research projects aimed at innovating organizations and supply chains in the healthcare and manufacturing sectors.

The UNISI team is responsible for the overall project management and actively contributes to all Work Packages. It leads some core tasks such as the desk research on AI literacy frameworks and competency scales in WP2, the development of the trainer’s guide for VET providers and education institutes on the toolkit developed in WP3, and the organisation and participation in Events and Conferences for communication and dissemination purposes in WP5.
